12d Field communicates directly with survey grade GPS units and Total Station theodolites through Radio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and cable. Surveyed data is displayed live on screen in conjunction with full road project design and existing surface data.

12d Field has been developed in consultation with Surveyors from Australia’s leading road building and infrastructure contractors. Currently in Beta development phase, it is being put through rigorous testing on prestigious project sites such as the Brisbane Gateway, Ballina Bypass, Sydney Desalination Plant, Ipswich Motorway and Sydney East Hills rail upgrades.

“The user interest and requests for participation during our beta testing has been fantastic,” says Graham Wirth, 12d Field’s Sales Manager. “Construction industry Surveyors recognised the talents of 12d’s Senior Programmer Mick Gunter, from his previous survey software products – TP-Setout and TP-Stakeout,” he said. “Industry Leader Brett Lehmann from Abigroup Contracting Pty Ltd is very pleased with the product development. Brett has provided valuable input to the 12d development team from 12d Field’s inception,” Mr Wirth said.

12d Field consists of two parts - 12d Field Setout and 12d Field Pickup - specifically designed for Construction Setout and detail surveys respectively.

12d Field Setout has been developed to enable surveyors and engineers to use both GPS and Total Station equipment to position setout information for construction and building works. Specific options include string or control line setout, batter profile positioning, point and structure setout, levelling from triangulated models, tunnel profile setout and surface or pavement levels between nominated edge strings. The above routines can be managed by live GPS data flow into 12d or through continuous and direct control of motorised Total Stations from within the 12d Field setout menus.

12d Field Pickup provides the ultimate definition of surveyed data through 12d’s unique hierarchical attribute method with simple-to-manage coding, templating and live data functionality. Surveyors and Engineers have the same instrument control and live data flow as with 12d Field Setout.

In both Setout and Pickup, information is displayed on the operator’s PC as it is surveyed. This, combined with the ability to simultaneously display detailed design and existing data, ensures total control and flexibility through visual means, using 12d’s interactive plan, section, and perspective views. Survey equipment control and data flows in 12d Field add to the existing power and functionality of 12d Model to create an invaluable tool for productivity and information management.
